Salary: $70,000 - 100,000 a year

Job Description:

The Energy Engineer will work on project teams of internal and external resources to deliver energy conservation projects. This position will utilize a broad base of knowledge and skills in mechanical or electrical engineering to conduct facility energy surveys, complete utility data analysis, develop and audit energy savings calculations, develop solutions, and work with internal team members to develop sales presentation and proposals. The Energy Engineer will develop productive working relationships with customers, as well as develop creative solutions for those customers. The Energy Engineer will be an integral part of the ongoing audit function of the Energy Services department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field energy surveys of facilities; interact with customers and prospective customers on surveys to obtain information and to foster productive working relationships
  • Complete utility data analysis and interpret results for project and proposal development
  • Develop solutions that are consistent with State of the Art
  • Complete utility data analysis and interpret results for project and proposal development
  • Complete write-ups and spread sheets of Solutions
  • Work with project managers and estimators when developing project costs
  • Build rapport and productive working relationships with internal team members, co-workers, executive leadership, customers, prospective customers, vendors, and other outside agents
  • Develop savings calculations that are realistic and achievable; communicate to the audit lead the background of those calculations and work with the audit lead when calculations do not match expected results; continually refine energy calculations as necessary
  • Act as audit lead or audit technical support as assigned
  • Streamline work efforts to maximize productivity and gross profit.
  • Stay current with existing and future technologies
  • Stay current with all pertinent Certifications
  • Provide support for any special projects assigned by the Energy Services Manager, Energy Engineering Manager, or Senior Energy Engineer
  • Lend expertise to others when asked while keeping the Energy Engineering Manager informed
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Minimum 1 year of engineering experience
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Prior energy engineering experience is preferred
  • C.E.M. certification is a plus
  • Basic understanding of engineering concepts and application required
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with individuals internal and external to the company and from various backgrounds
  • Highly collaborative and focused on sharing details routinely and consistently with team members

  • Excellent mathematic skills to perform duties of this role, including, but not limited to, calculations and audits, budget review or preparation
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and tact in all interactions
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance
