Field Service Engineer

Contract

Location – Us for first couple months, then deployed for up to 12 months overseas

CONUS pay DOE,  OCONUS pay DOE

 

 

Job Summary:

Spend the first 3-4 months getting trained on drones that use active radar and guidance systems, along with all the level 1 maintenance on them.  Then deploy to an overseas location where a military installation is based.   Once deployed, work alongside our military troops who will mostly do the operation the drone technology equipment and you provide hardware maintenance, some software maintenance, and firmware upgrades.   There may be times where you are the operator too.  Initial deployments are anticipated for 1 year.

 

Will also be gathering and sending data back to corporate on maintenance schedules, documentation of mechanics of hardware, and any software components.  Participate in any continuous improvement with the drone hardware or software you can identify.  Document and mitigate environmental and RF interference concerns.

Either already have your own UAV pilot license, or will go through the UAV pilot course while learning their systems to acquire your license.  May be an option to use this to perform demo's of the drone(s)  while deployed.

Housing, meals, and travel will be provided for duration of training and deployment.

 

 

Required Skills/Experience

  • 5+ years Network Administration experience (prefer 10+)
  • Experience troubleshooting networks on your own, without any other technical support to help you.   Should have an aptitude for this.
  • 1+ year Linux Operating Systems and troubleshooting experience
(this is to mostly run low-level code for updates, diagnose onboard computer hardware, and networking connections)
  • Networking Protocols, also experience with switches
  • Experience with deploying SSH
  • Experience using and running Script files from the command prompt
  • Basic PC or consumer electronic repair experience.
  • Strong knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office Suite, or Google Office Suite
  • Prior Military, recently Military discharge preferred
    • Ideally in a Network Admin role, or similar highly technical role and attended advanced technical troubleshooting/repair schools.
    • Alternate would be a bachelors degree in Network Engineering, or Vo-Tech school
  • Current Secret or recent Secret Clearance within last several months.
  • Must have a valid Passport and willing to spend 6 months at a time in deployment to another country.
 

 

Desired:

  • UAV or Drone Pilot license, or willingness to get one.  (if you don't have one, you will take the class and get certified as a drone pilot before you are deployed overseas).
  • Radar technician or operator experience
 

 

Soft Skills:

Must be someone who can be creative in finding new ways for both hardware and software improvements.

Be willing to offer suggestions to improve the drone devices to the company.

Must be self guided and also follow instruction when deployed to other countries
