Job Description

Our client, one of the largest Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner for data services, is looking for a Financial Analyst to join their elite team of technologists to build and contribute to large-scale, innovative projects.
 
A Financial Analyst is responsible for the in-take and successful processing of Trade blotters and other machine readable submissions. 
 
Candidates for this position require a working knowledge of brokerage back office operations and strong pattern recognition skills.  Interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal are also required as the Financial Analyst will frequently find her-or-him-self interfacing with others regarding methods toward to most accurate and efficient processing decisions.
 
The Financial Analyst is not a “button pusher.”  The role requires decision making at multiple steps of an array of possible processing paths.  It also requires a temperament that is self-confident enough to act on its own, yet willing to consider and even seek out the advice of others in an effort to achieve 100% processing accuracy.
 
Financial Analysts will find that their role is 60% to 70% process adherence/observance and 30% to 40% process improvement/re-engineering.  The Financial Analyst believes that the discovery of new and better logic toward speedier more accurate processing is a journey that has just begun.  The analytics resulting from the Financial Analyst’s interaction with data, process, systems and humans are of paramount importance to the way our client regulates.
 
Skill sets & knowledge areas of a prospective a Financial Analyst are as follows:
 
  • Knowledge of Brokerage Back Office operations
  • Knowledge of Asset Types and Financial Products (Fixed Income, Equity, etc..)
  • Confidence in decision making
  • Willingness to seek guidance as necessary
  • Ability to create balancing and reconciliation protocols on the fly
  • Ability to conceptualize and think creatively
  • Ability to collaborate with project team to ensure timely delivery and quality of all project deliverables
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis on data issue
  • Ability to collaborate with developers and other technical personnel to ensure adherence to business requirements and stakeholders’ needs
  • Ability to facilitate and/or participate in joint analysis and design sessions to understand needs of the next-stage and downstream users
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word and ability to write SQL Queries
 
Multi-tasking abilities are required. The position involves regular interface with senior leadership and exposure to sensitive information. Tact, diplomacy and sound business and interpersonal judgment are a must. Requires the ability to self-organize and flexibility with respect to Blotter processing hours.
