Job Description

Principal Physicist

Multi-year contract role

Bountiful, UT

Secret Clearance required

Contract Rate: DOE

Provides guidance and multi-disciplined leadership to evaluate/resolve client needs/problems for any of the fields of science concerned with matter, energy, physical space, time, nature of physical measurement and fundamental structural particles.

Formulates projects and conducts experiments using advanced equipment and by applying complex techniques, designs, and procedures.

Executes duties in team-based environment and fills the principal investigator role on both internal and contract-funded research efforts.

Plainly communicates complex technical information to both subject-matter experts and laymen.

Attends and actively supports scientific and technical conferences, symposia, workshops, working-team meetings and other venues for presentations of results and development of collaborative research relationships and business development.

Supports new concept and program pursuits.

Trains, develops and mentors other team members

Collaborates and provides support on projects inside as well as outside of expertise.

Leads both internal and contract research and development efforts.

Presents research and results to customers and scientific community via conferences, technical-interchange meetings, and journal publications.

Conducts feasibility studies in terms of staff time and resources.

Coordinates the efforts of multiple teams/persons to achieve optimum overall results in a timely manner and at a minimum cost.

Experience:

Must possess acute reasoning/problem solving skills

Ability to conduct experiments and develop theories

Ability to perform complex calculations and mathematical modeling

Ability to use computer technology

Ability to research and gather information, analyze and organize data, and prepare technical reports

Must be thorough and pay attention to detail

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Must be registered/certified or equivalent as appropriate for profession.

Education:

BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or related field + 15 years of experience

OR

MS degree + 12 years of experience

OR

PHD + 9 years of experience
