Job Description

Job Title: Sr Safety Specialist

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Duration: Contract-to-direct hire 6+ months

Pay range: $30-40/hr DOE

 

Job Responsibilities:

Leads efforts to create and maintain a safe work environment, focusing on occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) and general employee safety.

Provide technical input and coordinate the development, implementation, planning and

ongoing maintenance associated with the company's safety management and training program for all employees. 

Lead, coordinate and report on safety inspections of company facilities and equipment. Complete annual reporting to OSHA and ensure posting of the reports along with completion of monthly goal updates and reports.

Audit commercial motor vehicle records of employees who are assigned company vehicles. 

Lead efforts in the preparation, review, publication and management of written safety program and safety improvement plan. 

Provide technical input on OSHA safety regulations to engineering, field operations and other departments by interpreting rules, codes, and standards. 

Participate in the development and revision of company operating procedures and/or engineering standards to ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations.

Review design basis agreements, project execution plans and construction design specifications for safety requirements. 

Develop and lead employee safety meetings to communicate safety policies and procedures, conduct meetings and coordinate first aid training and safety programs to enhance the company's overall safety. 

Communicate safety awareness using multiple media: company newsletter articles, safety posters, magazine subscriptions for employees.

Job Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in safety management, industrial hygiene or related field or approximately 6 years of equivalent work experience. 

5+ years of experience developing and implementing occupational safety and health programs and knowledge of industrial industry functions (regulatory, financial, marketing, operations, gas control, etc.) and construction practices.

In-depth knowledge of federal OSHA and state safety regulations and understanding of the compliance requirements prescribed in the regulations.

Ability to prepare clear, concise and complete written reports.

Ability to function independently.

Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with ability to recognize, analyze and recommend alternative solutions to problems and issues.

Proficient computer skills with various software applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint preferred) and aptitude necessary to operate software related to work requirements.

Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Valid driver's license with ability to travel to remote locations, including availability to respond immediately for crisis support activities.
