Systems Engineer

Onsite: 5 days (Winston Salem, NC)

Pay: $45-48/hr on W2

Job Summary: This is an individual contributor position which works under regular supervision and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration and operation of the enterprise environment which supports the Windows servers and operating systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities % of Time

Enterprise Windows Server environment Support

Maintain network directory services and conduct performance analysis and tuning.

Assist with the maintenance of internet protocol address space through utilization of dynamic or static configuration for the Microsoft environment, such as through DHCP.

Assist with managing Remote Access Security Services, and maintain the Domain Name System (DNS) server.

Perform general server and automated duties.

Designs, configures and runs the desktop, laptop and server standards and images environment, assuring conformance to corporate standards.

Analyze workflow. 40%

Technology Support

Provide day-to-day health monitoring, problem resolution, growth projections, change management, and patching & version management of the assigned technologies.

Perform unexpected or emergency machine and software maintenance during non-business hours.

Research, plan, and implement enhancements to our existing technologies.

Research, plan, and implement new technologies as part of a business solution product or to support new efficiencies or functionalities within the company. 30%

Other Support Duties

Maintain multiple Windows Server operating systems, manage operating system

Provide and support monitoring routines for Windows Server.

Provide backup and recovery procedures for Windows Servers using various methods including backup-to-disk and backup-to-tape.

Develop and support redundant infrastructure.

Research and resolve production issues related to Windows Server and supporting environment.

Provide production analysis and development on client server tools.

Provide design guidelines for development on Windows Server.

Provide support for internal developers and any related technical issues.

Perform other duties as assigned by management. 30%

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Five (5) years or more of strong technical operating systems experience with Windows Operating Systems and various scripting languages for process automation

Special Requirements:

MCSE, MCP, MCSA, or CompTIA Network + certification preferred.

Experience with at least 2 more of the following software packages: Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Server , Big IP F5 APM/LTM, Legato Networker, Veeam, Exagrid, WSUS, McAfee Epolicy, Proofpoint Email gateway, Network Printing, RSA/Radius, Microsoft SCCM, EMC SourceOne, BMC Track-It, VMware VSphere and SRM, Client SIM, Microsoft Hyper-V, Hewlett-Packard ILO, McAfee DLP, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Sharepoint Server, Solarwinds, Office 365 or other Cloud SaaS offerings.

Ability to provide technical on-call 24x7 production support on a rotating basis

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements

Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements as they pertain to network security.

Solid understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems (client and server)

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2013 or higher (including Exchange Online in O365)

Knowledge of DHCP and Active Directory Hosted DNS.

Experience using Microsoft SCCM, WSUS, Active Directory, Real-Time Network monitoring software, mail gateway operations and Secure Web Delivery, VMWare Technologies, EMC Networker backup and archival solutions, Veeam Backup Software, McAfee E-Policy, Track-It, Internet Traffic monitoring software, SQL, Unix/Linux and scripting languages (vb script, perl, wsh, powershell, batch files, etc).

Ability to recognize, identify, isolate and resolve problems with customers and technical staff

Ability to work productively as part of a team and as an individual contributor

Customer-focused with the ability to communicate with non-technical users
