Title:  Windows Operations Lead
Location:  NYC
FT PERM Role - Direct Hire w/Client

Job Summary:

The Windows Operations lead is responsible for directing a staff of support engineers in the operations of all company's Microsoft server environment.  This role will be responsible for ensuring we meet or exceed our service levels in regards to supporting, patching and the overall maintenance of our Microsoft environment
 
Major Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and act as escalation point for a team of support engineers
  • Responsible for patching of all the Microsoft systems, and ensure we follow IT standards and security policies
  • Manage the Windows Support queue, and deal with escalations from both internal and external teams and act as subject matter expert in Windows OS issues.
  • Manage and maintain both on premise and cloud based windows servers. 
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding all windows issues.
  • Responsible for automating manual tasks using new or existing tool sets.
  • Responsible for patching and updating servers to the latest patches or OS versions via SCCM.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting application failures on Windows OS.
  • Manage the lifecycle of server systems from creation to sunset.
  • Perform root cause analysis for production incidents.
  • Promote a DevOps culture.  Driving automation and a root cause culture to improve our overall environment.
  • Keep system documentation and playbooks up to date and accurate
  • Developing tools and processes to improve the overall user experience
  • Responsible for creating weekly status reports on patching and support queue.
  • Triage servers with security exceptions with application support teams
  • Create weekly reports that show the performance of the team and server compliance to MUSO security standards
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
  • 6+ years relevant work experience
  • Prior experience managing a technical team.
  • Certifications in Microsoft technologies.
  • High level scripting in multiple languages to be able to create and debug scripts to perform job functions. Automation experience in at least one configuration management and deployment tools such as Puppet or Ansible
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure or other cloud based deployments.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for Microsoft server OS, activate directory, networking, exchange and other applications that run on Windows OS
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of supporting technologies, including Network, Hardware, Virtualization and other enterprise software
  • Strong people management, organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must work well in a high-pressure environment and keep cool under stress.
  • Understanding of how to manage server permissions via AD, GPO and RES groups.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to follow-up from issue to resolution.
