Mechanical Designer
Title: Mechanical Designer
Location: Claremont, CA
Position Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $80,000-$94,000 Base Salary
Essential Functions
- Design mechanical components for electrical lighting systems, including lamp bulbs, brackets, heatsinks, and control cabinets.
- Generate detailed drawings, bills of materials, and assembly drawings using AutoCAD, under the guidance of a program engineer.
- Create layouts and models using SolidWorks for internal and customer review and approval.
- Maintain drawings, control files, and manage engineering change control tasks.
- Perform drawing checks, write engineering change requests, and present design reviews to internal teams and customers.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a mechanical designer or 5 years as a mechanical draftsperson.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD LT and SolidWorks software.
- Strong understanding of drawing requirements for commercial and military applications, compliant with ASME Y14.100 and MIL-DTL-31000.
- Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5M.
Additional Requirements & Preferred Qualifications
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (sheet metal, welding, brazing, machining, heat treating, 3D printing) is preferred.
