Pipeline Risk Assessment Engineer
Pipeline Risk Assessment Engineer
Salt Lake City, UT, remote possible
Contract duration 6-7+ months
Pay range: $50-$65/hr
Job Responsibilities:
- Run company's Integrity Management Plan's pipeline risk model
- Work with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to update data sets and ensure their accuracy
- Implement updates to risk algorithms as needed
- Implement the risk assessment/threat evaluation, risk ranking, preventive and mitigative measure determination and tracking on selected pipeline assets
- Fully understand the pipeline integrity threats and risks for assigned pipeline assets
- Run risk model(s) for specific assets including coordination of data collection, understanding the risk algorithms, reviewing and confirming results, and utilizing the risk output
- Initiate and lead interaction with appropriate subject matter experts and other stakeholders for specific threats to assist in planning and to secure feedback on program improvements
- Document and categorize risk areas
- Work with IT to update and validate results in mapping software
- Present report and findings to applicable stakeholders
- Identify and present potential pipeline integrity process improvements and follow-through with implementation once stakeholder/management agreement for the improvement is obtained
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 5+ years experience working with historical pipeline integrity datasets such as in-line inspection, pressure test, corrosion, construction, and direct assessment records
- Strong effective, timely, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with logical thought processes
- Demonstrated ability for focused attention to detail
- Ability and willingness to perform all essential functions of the position including those listed above
- Demonstrated ability to develop and refine processes
- Ability and willingness to understand and implement all company/job related processes, procedures, guidelines and best practices
- Ability and willingness to coordinate with field operating personnel, project engineers, and outside entities
- Must be accountable and manage activities to keep required work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow company policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work independently
- Ability to successfully work in team environment with a focus on both internal and external customers
- Demonstrated initiative and adaptability to manage multiple work tasks and changing priorities
- Ability to interpret industry and company standards and procedures
- Strong computer skills including but not limited to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to identify, characterize, communicate, and resolve complex pipeline data issues in support of a risk program
- Experience with GIS systems
- Demonstrated ability to query database to support ad hoc data integration, QA/QC, and data analysis requests
- Demonstrated ability to identify gaps in processes and follow through with solutions
- Demonstrated ability to review, organize, and utilize detailed information
- Demonstrated ability to develop, write, and document processes and procedures
- Knowledge of PHMSA Part 192 regulations with detailed knowledge of Subpart O Pipeline Integrity Regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of ASME B31.8S standard
- Fundamental knowledge of pipeline integrity threats and their associated mechanisms
- Knowledge of general pipeline operations standards, practices and procedures
