Data Architect
Title: Enterprise Data Architect
Location: Des Moines, IA
Type: Direct Hire
Pay: $115,000 - $120,000
Job Description: The role of the Enterprise Data Architect is to expand the company's use of data as a strategic enabler of corporate goals and objectives. The Enterprise Data Architect will achieve this by strategically designing, developing, and implementing data models for enterprise-level applications and systems. These models shall be architected at the following layers: conceptual, logical, business area, and application. This individual will act as the primary advocate of data modeling methodologies and data processing best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and delivers long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with data users, department managers, business units, and other key stakeholders.
- Creates short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall data management roadmap in alignment to the Bank's data governance program.
- Establishes processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of corporate metadata; takes steps to assure metadata accuracy and validity.
- Establishes methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement.
- Creates strategies and plans for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving. Conducts data capacity planning, lifecycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks.
- Ensures data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.
- Determines governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organization.
- Selects and implements the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support data technology goals.
- Oversees the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality.
- Collaborates with Data Governance Manager, project managers, and business unit leaders for all projects involving enterprise data.
- Addresses data-related problems in regard to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platform integration. Identifies and develops opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.
- Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and development plans for enterprise architecture and infrastructure operations.
- Documents the data architecture and environment to maintain a current and accurate view of the larger data picture at the bank.
- Four-year college degree in a related field preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering or relevant field preferred
- At least 8 years of experience as technology, systems, data, or information architect
- At least 6 years of robust knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, best practices, and industry standards
- Experience with Azure or Snowflake
- Experience with NetApp, SAN, or Dell EMC storage
- Experience in designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure enterprise solutions aligned with TOGAF standards
- Experience deploying and leveraging an EA Architecture Modeling Language (ArchiMate)
- Direct experience in implementing enterprise data management processes, procedures, and decision support
- Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, and reporting structures
- Experience with data processing flowcharting technique
- Financial services experience
- Experience building data architecture from the ground up and being a "pioneer
- Data governance experience
