Senior Project Manager

ConsultNet New Britain, CT (Onsite) Full-Time

The Global IT Project Management team is responsible for all aspects of project management delivery, including planning, executing, monitoring and controlling projects and programs to successful outcomes. The PMO partners with Business Services CIOs and their resources as well as Portfolio Leaders, Business Service Management, Program Managers, Domain Leaders, IT Finance, and the Integration Management Office. The scope of project delivery includes Infrastructure, Real Estate, Application and Merger and Acquisition projects. The PMO utilizes standardized ITSF project delivery frameworks suited to the type of project being executed. Project execution success is measured against Project Management Industry Standard Key Performance Indicators.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Plan, monitor, control and execute project and program delivery
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to PMO operational standards and processes
  • Drive successful outcomes via effective issue and risk management
  • Effectively communicate to team members and stakeholders via PMO project update vehicles including the PPM tool, Steering Committees, Executive Portfolio Review Meetings, CIO meetings, and regularly scheduled Project Status Meetings
  • Develop and maintain project, program and/or PMO operational metrics and status reporting
  • Maintain a pipeline of project management professionals to quickly respond to organizational needs for resources
  • Strive for excellence in forecasting project effort and non-effort time and project financials
  • Fulfill generic demand in a timely manner
  • Maintain organizational performance standards on project related data quality
  • Leverage analytics to drive improved outcomes
Knowledge
  • Expertise in managing large and complex projects
  • Integrates deep subject matter expertise with:
    • Industry experience.
    • In-depth knowledge of standards, methodologies and trends
  • Able to manage a large and diverse team of technical team members
  • Able to effectively manage project managers and work with stakeholders at various levels in the organization
  • Strong communication skills
  • Learning Agility
  • Experience required with Clarity, MS Project, or a similar PPM tool
  • Experience developing detailed and complex project plans is a must.

  • Develops creative solutions to complex problems related to project management through in-depth analysis, critical thinking, coordination with key stakeholders, team members and the generation of options.
  • Leverages quantitative and qualitative information to problem solving
Guidance
  • Successfully executes with minimal direction; good discretion on when to seek out help
  • Executes goals and strategy within an increasing area of responsibility.
  • Plans and implements projects involving major change efforts.
  • Uses experience, innovation and judgment to make decisions that may be based on partial information.
Relationships
  • Contributes to PMO results through quality of delivery and ability to execute
  • Contributes to the organization's thought leadership on project delivery and continual improvement.
  • Build consensus yet adhere to standards
  • Ensures understanding of issues by executive decision makers.
  • Provide consultation, influence decisions, and identify and resolve critical issues.
Skills & Experience
  • 10 years total of Project Management experience.
  • Agile/Iterative and Digital experience highly desired.
  • Advanced understanding of IT Project Management principles and techniques
  • Experience in managing change and engaging team members, ability to provide direction and leadership to others
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Certifications in PMP and/or Agile related desired.
Education
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or a related field; Graduate Degree desired
