Our client, one of the largest Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner for data services, is looking for a Data Analyst to join their elite team of technologists to build and contribute to large-scale, innovative projects. Our client wants candidates who are eager to learn and grow with them as they work to move their market monitoring applications to modern big data platforms in the cloud where up to 60 billion market events are being processed each day.

If you are a fast learner, have a sharp mathematical and technical mind and are interested in working for one of the biggest data users in the country in a fast-paced, open source environment, our client has an immediate need for a Data Analyst.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Analyze large data sets to gain an understanding of the data, Client data anomalies, and look for ways to leverage data in support of Client's regulatory mission.
  • Become the Subject Matter Expert in the Domain
  • Integrate data from disparate sources to help define an enterprise data dictionary.
  • Define and populate conceptual and logical data models, data dictionaries and metadata repositories.
  • Define and document key business processes, technical requirements, data scenarios and data transformations.
  • Maintain relationships with business and technical staff across the enterprise to understand data requirements and usage patterns.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field such as computer science, engineering, and/or related field required (Master's Degree Preferred)
  • Understand logical, physical and conceptual data models.
  • Strong SQL, including analytic functions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to elicit requirements from business users and convey them clearly to technology teams.
  • Ability to explain data models, requirements and quality issues to non-data savvy users.
  • Ability to create data scenarios and explain data transformations.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of data warehousing, metadata management, and master data management (MDM).
  • Experience with data profiling, cleansing and transformation.
  • Define data specifications or data models for a large department or enterprise.
  • Business analysis work using process modeling and conceptual data modeling.
  • Experience with process modeling methodologies (e.g., RUP, CMMI, BPM, User Stories).
  • Experience in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
  • Experience with master data management (MDM), data governance and data quality management.
  • Experience with understanding of statistics and its usage in data analysis
Other Skills/Interests:
  • Industry knowledge – prior experience at a broker-dealer firm, SEC or other financial agency.
  • Experience with big data, Hadoop, NoSQL databases
  • Experience with document management metadata
  • Exposure to statistical languages like R
