DBA w/Cloud 5

12-24 month contract

Riverton, Utah

We are seeking individuals with experience solving complex data challenges for industry giants and has a passion for achieving orders of magnitude improving process efficiencies.

This position specifically will architect and administer AWS and Azure based databases as well as on-premises SQL Server databases, develop Terraform templates to automate cloud deployments, support Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM solutions, and develop and support SSIS ETL jobs.

It is desirable for the candidate to have experience C# development, using SSDT to manage database projects, experience with Azure and AWS DevOps tools, Oracle and RAC database administration (10g and greater), AWS/Azure MySQL and PostgreSQL development and administration.

The Database Engineer 5 plans and conducts assignments, generally involving the larger and more important projects or more than one project. A Database Engineer 5 is fully responsible for the systems and infrastructure which support a product. The person in this role directs and guides the design in a way that ensures compliance with technical and architectural standards. They understand and communicate the non-functional requirements which are necessary for successful product operation. Additionally, they ensure the implementation and transition into production happens smoothly. While the solution runs in production this person is responsible to resolve any problems or issues that are escalated to them. They engage vendors in the resolution of incidents as necessary, and once an incident is resolved they are responsible to ensure all defects in the system or process are identified, tracked, and resolved. This person ensures that all proposed changes have been adequately planned and reviewed eliminating the possibility of unplanned service outages. The person in this role mentors all other engineers in their portfolio. They are a leader.

This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

Responsibilities

•         Consult with data engineers on performance issues

•         Enforce consistent standards across databases

•         Configuring and maintain the database software on SQL Server. Occasionally may help with other databases, such as Oracle.

•         Creating the structure that contains the data

•         Analyzing and protecting the data, including troubleshooting, backups, security processes/configuration

•         Designing and developing both data services and data integrations

•         Following engineering best practices

•         Fulfilling technical lead role for engineering solutions

•         Evaluating, recommending, purchasing, installing, testing, upgrading, and maintaining existing or proposed systems to structure and access database

•         Leading in creating standards for all ICS groups to follow

•         Creating standards and procedures for operations teams to follow 

•         Training support personnel and systems users 

•         Analyzing database systems problems and provide problem resolution

•         Respond to and resolve security issues and requests

•         Participate in Problem Management process

•         Maintain production documentation

•         Comply with policy, standards, and regulatory requirements

•         Handle and resolve alerts, will require on call availability

Qualifications

•         Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience.  Master's degree preferred.

•         8+ years relevant professional experience. 

•         6+ years of experience supporting product development activities and be capable of guiding technology decisions.

•         3+ years of experience as a DBA and/or DBE for an enterprise

•         Cloud is required in at least one of the following

o    PostgreSQL

o    MySQL

o    Azure SQL

o    Azure SQL Server

o    MongoDB

•         Experience supporting data services in AWS and Azure is highly desired

•         CRM - Dynamics 365

•         Development experience in C#, SSIS, SSRS, SSDT

•         SQL Server DBA

•         Cloud Database Experience

o    ¿Azure

•         Familiarity with concepts of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL (document and graph) data modeling

•         Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge in field of specialization to the completion of significant assignments. 

•         Proven successful leadership skills  

•         Experience with Change, Incident, and Problem management processes. Strong operational understanding and discipline.

•         Exceptional communicator; both written and verbal

•         Demonstrated experience evaluating vendors and their products and be capable to identifying critical gaps in their offerings

•         Demonstrated ability to mentor and train her or his peers

•         Strong understanding of the business processes being supported by the solution

•         Outstanding troubleshooter, with the ability to think under pressure and drive the hardest problems to resolution

•         This job operates in a professional office environment

•         To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment

Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
