Our client, one of the largest Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner for data services, is looking for top talent to join their elite team of technologists to build and contribute to large-scale, innovative projects. Our client wants candidates who are eager to learn and grow with them as they work to move their market monitoring applications to modern big data platforms in the cloud where up to 60 billion market events are being processed each day.

If you are a fast learner, have a sharp mathematical and technical mind and are interested in working for one of the biggest data users in the country in a fast-paced, open source environment, our client has an immediate need for a Desktop Engineer to coordinate changes to computer databases, test, and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems.
Our client is looking for a hybrid role of system administration, data analytics, and tier 3 support.  The candidate would be responsible for management and oversight of the desktop computing environment which is a blend of PC, Mac, and Citrix VDI. The primary focus will be to build a standardized platform for each technology, remediate current differences in the environment, and build new processes to deploy and maintain a high level of standardization and simplification.
The secondary focus will be in data analytics.  The candidate should be able to apply programming acumen and a breadth of tools, data sources and analytical techniques to answer a wide range of high-impact business questions and present the insights in a concise and effective manner. Technical aptitude and programming skills are necessary in this role. The candidate should also be an effective communicator capable of independently driving issues to resolution and communicating insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Job Responsibilities

  • Defines and implements processes for managing a standardized desktop environment.
  • Maintains desktop application, patch, and other client deployments by packaging, scripting and deploying applications across enterprise workstation desktop environments using automation tools, i.e. SCCM, JAMF, AppSense, scripting and other enterprise specific tools.
  • Develops and integrates builds by deploying a hardware agnostic desktop management solution and providing an environment that ensures currently deployed machines can be remotely brought up to new corporate standards in an automated fashion.
  • Gathers requirements and implements systems that simplify management of and improve the user experience.
  • Packages applications and creates user profile packages for various use cases.
  • Documents resolutions and analyzes trends in order to be proactive in problem solving.
  • Analyze and validate data using statistical tools to answer product and business questions, to drive product and marketing actions.
  • Build a holistic understanding of our product features, its customer, the data infrastructure & environment, and business goals.
  • Establishes and maintains automated computer inventory and tracking utilizing desktop management tools.
  • Acts as an escalation point for Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field
  • 4+ years of progressive desktop engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Occasional travel both locally and nationally may be required.
  • Strong experience with building processes around desktop deployment and management.
  • Experience with patch management and development of application deployment packages to include scripting, application re-packaging, and automated deployment/remediation.
  • Experience with enterprise automated deployment tools, e.g. SCCM, JAMF, Active Directory, WSUS, Powershell, Wise.
  • An excellent knowledge of Windows 10 and Microsoft Applications; an in-depth ability and understanding of Windows 10 registry, services, drivers, file systems, networking, etc is required.
  • Experience with ITSM tools e.g. HEAT, ServiceNow
  • Experience with SQL, SSRS, PowerBI, Excel, CMPivot
  • Programming languages: .NET, C#, VB
  • Experience with Macintosh in the enterprise for any of the above requirements is a strong plus.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
