Title:  Programmer Analyst
Location:  Westbury, NY
Duration:  6 month contract to hire

The Programmer Analyst plays an important role in our commitment to continuous improvement. In fulfilling the daily functions of the position, he/she shall display courtesy and cooperation with fellow employees and management. Working as a team player, the Programmer Analyst will assist his/her co-workers throughout the Company in achieving total quality, and contribute to a friendly and cooperative working environment.
This individual must have technical expertise in all facets of Client large systems COBOL, utilities, DMSII, COMS, , MISER3 applications.
Part of the IT Department's roll within the Company is to protect it from cyber threats. To this end, each individual on the IT team is expected to meet and/or exceed security protocol requirements to protect member's data and all computer equipment at all times. This individual should look to improve these and all other products and services, as well as to be willing to serve on cross-functional teams to meet our goals.
  1. Create new and modify existing MISER3 and custom applications, and interface programs using Client COBOL and DMSII.
  2.  Create and maintain processes using Client WFL.  
  3. Analyze and correct production and testing issues.
  4.  Follow established SDLC and change management procedures.  
  5. Coordinate and complete all MISER3 upgrades and installations.
  6.  Create and maintain department policies and procedures on the on-line library and knowledge base.  
  7. Knowledgeable in disaster recovery procedures and participate in disaster recovery planning, testing exercises, and disaster recovery plan execution.
  8. Prepare test data.
  9.  Prepare and maintain program documentation.  
  10. Report all progress and schedule changes to department managers.
  11.  Knowledgeable in Client COBOL, DMSll coding, and program debugging.  
  12. Knowledgeable in Client MCP, DMSll, and MISER 3 commands and utility program operations
  13. Knowledgeable in Client WFL.
  14.  Interface with all user departments.  
  15. Recommend new enhancements and technologies.
  16. Able to open, close and secure the Westbury building and IT department.
  17.  Sign all access logs when arriving and leaving the Company.  
  18. Report all encountered security failures to management.
  19.  Perform other duties, in addition to normal responsibilities, to help the overall work flow of the department and other departments as assigned by the team leader or direct supervisor.  
  20. Adhere to and enforce all Company's policies, procedures and standards.
  21.  Attend at least the required number of training sessions per year as outlined by the direct report, including any required self-guided company's University on-line training classes, job specific webinars or other programs sanctioned by the Company's Organizational Development Department.
  22.  As an exempt employee, he/she is expected to be available either remote or on-site, for technical support during off-hours, weekends and/or holidays for emergencies, staff-shortage and other extenuating circumstances.  
 Secondary Responsibilities:
  1. Be able to backup analysts, programmers and operators when needed. He/She is expected to back up to all data processing positions and provide technical support for the company, as such will be required to learn the daily operations and administration of the following, but not limited to, systems:

  •  Synergy System
  • SmartBanker (Business Intelligence) System
  • SmartCollector System
  • ACH Retrieval System
  • PAL Audio Server
  • Exchange Server
  • Cohesion System
  • FSBA Channel Server
  • Card Wizard System
  • SilverCloud (Wayne)
  • Numara Track-It (includes: Helpdesk, Inventory & Remote Connectivity modules)
  • GPOD (Client Check Clearing) System
  • Check Printing System
  • Daily Server Backup System
  • Release AntiSpam messages from the Quarantine queue in response to user requests
  • All communications and transmission equipment

College degree is preferred with a minimum of 5 years of experience in data processing field and a minimum of 3 years MISER3 applications programming.  Must have technical expertise with Client large systems, Client COBOL and utilities, DMSII, WFL, COMS, equipment configurations, communication equipment. Willing to work flexible hours when required, willing to travel, if necessary, for educational and disaster recovery purposes, and serve as backup for all programmers, analysts and operators when needed.
Conditions under which the work is completed, physical needs, environment, and resources/tools utilized;

  • Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  •  Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  •  Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.  
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  •  Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  •  Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. 
  • Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  •  Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. 
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  •  Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 


  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.


  •  The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. 


  •  None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
