Job Description:
Join one of Utah's fastest growing start-ups in the Fintech/SAAS space. This high-profile position will report directly to the CEO/Founder of the organization and will be tasked with leading the technical direction of one of the most innovative Fintech products Utah has to offer. You will be guiding and executing all technology and information functions including overseeing and directing the day-to-day activities of the Software and IT departments and is responsible for all technologies and information systems as well as business matters pertaining to technology product and the company's overall business strategy.
  • Create, enhance and implement technology strategy, including system security, architecture, budgeting, forecasting, upgrade implementation, and timelines.
  • Act as a leader and mentor to technology team members, employed and contracted, and strategic advisor to company leadership, as related to technology and information issues.
  • Serve as a member of the senior leadership team; providing input and direction for the company's short and long-term business strategies, cybersecurity, R&D, vendor selection, and business applications.
  • Engage in and lead technology discussions with key clients, vendors, and industry thought-leaders to continuously identify, plan and implement leading solutions to advance and expand the company's strategic positioning and drive revenue growth.
  • Develop IT policies and procedures to ensure departmental efficiency and system reliability.
  • Oversee all the company's client and customer-facing technologies and websites
  • Work with company leaders and clients to find technology solutions to operating challenges and identify additional business opportunities.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert to other internal departments in their selection and implementation of technology solutions, including leading all hardware and software planning and execution for the organization.
  • Ensure system security, confidentiality, compliance, and reliability of all corporate, client, and customer data, proprietary systems, and intellectual property.
Required Skills:
  • 5+ years in a VP, CIO, or CTO role for a Fintech, Payment Services, or Merchant Solutions organization
  • 8+ years of experience in computer technology and systems development for a well-known and/or multinational software product
  • Strong current working knowledge of systems architecture, system design, hardware, payment gateways, transactional website development, database development, information management, help desk, security design, PCI compliance, networks, reporting, etc.
  • Experience building up a start-up company from the ground up
  • Technical proficiency is critical to this role, including but not limited to the following:
    • Python/Javascript and other more progressive technologies (Vue, React, Angular)
    • AWS Serverless Architecture (Lambda)
    • Microservices, DevOps
    • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
    • Web Application Architecture
    • Web Services Architecture
    • Source Code Management

Bonus/Soft Skills:
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, influencing and prioritizing skills
  • Experience running a mobile solutions organization
  • Ability to work under pressure, often with overlapping priorities and deadlines
  • Candidates should have an instinctive feeling about future product concepts, have good analytical skills, be a good listener, able to respond to feedback from key internal and client stakeholders, be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience leading technology teams / functions for a well-known brand
  • Executive presence and related ability to influence key decision makers and stakeholders
  • Agile/Scrum methodology expertise
  • Master's Degree preferred, with concentration in computer system design, development, or MIS management
