Sr. Backend/DevOps Engineer

6month contract to hire

Pay Range: $60.00 - $85.00per hr / Salary Target: $150K - $170K

Job Description:

Our client is a healthy start-up in the financial SaaS space. They are looking for extremely strong motivated Sr. Backend/DevOps Software Engineers to assist in building out the cloud portion of the system with API support for mobile device backup and sync, data aggregation and a personalized machine learning recommendation system. You'll be joining a small group of engineers and in this role they'll really be looking for someone that wants to move into a mentor or leadership role. Experience building financial services platforms or systems would be a huge bonus! Also, experience with QA and testing your own work would be needed!

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of Backend/DevOps Engineering using OOP Language
  • In-depth experience building GraphQL APIs that frontend mobile apps can consume
  • Experience building serverless applications on AWS using API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, Cognito, and DynamoDB
  • Experience working with event-driven and microservices architectures
  • Experience using infrastructure-as-code to automate and deploy infrastructure
  • Ability to test your own code and maintain a high bar for code quality
  • Experience maintaining high coverage through unit tests
  • Understanding of design patterns when designing and implementing data models on a NoSQL foundation
  • Interest or experience in leading or mentoring others
Bonus/Soft Skills:
  • Experience building financial services platforms or systems
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing security best practices
  • Experience with integration tests in a micro-service environment
  • Self-motivated and driven to ask and find answers to critical questions
  • Able to clearly communicate details to others, especially complex technical ideas to key decision makers internally and externally
