Job Description:

Perform management, maintenance, and upgrades of networks in both physical and Cloud environments using Cisco physical and virtual networking products and Cloud vendor network applications including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, network management systems, security appliances, and load balancing applications.

  • Overall management of networking products within the area of responsibility, to include routers, switches, firewalls, proxies, load balancers, etc.
  • Participates in special projects as required. Interfaces with third-party vendors supporting, developing, and maintaining network resources and materials around daily operational tasks.
  • Works daily incidents as required for support of network connectivity or related network issues during daily operations and maintenance.
  • Implements approved network changes as required. Monitor network usage, anticipate problems and suggest solutions.
  • Maintain current NMS to reflect the most up-to-date status on all managed products supporting cross-team visibility.
  • Configure, ship, deploy, and process returned network gear in the event of an outage or overall hardware failure for Data Center and national wide-area networks.

  • Related Work Experience: 6-8 years
  • Prior working experience interfacing with all levels of management and customers.
  • Previous working experience in a US government datacenter or Cloud environment.
  • Strong working knowledge with Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring and scripting in Cisco routers, Cisco Nexus switches, and Juniper SRX and Cisco ASA firewalls in Cloud and Data Center environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, TACACS+, VPN, and NAC.
  • Scripting skills in languages such asPython, Powershell, Visual Basic, Terraform, TCL, BASH, or Ansible.
  • Experience or familiarity with automation of common tasks, network management, and more.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to clearly describe, plan, and document network designs, implementation plans, and as-built final documentation packages.
  • Experience with enterprise network-grade products to include but not be limited to Cisco Nexus 7000, 6500, 4500, ACE, ASA, CSR, NGFW, and FMC in both physical and Cloud environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS & NX-OS; EIGRP, BGP, GRE, and OSPF.
  • Prior working knowledge/experience with F5 Load Balancers and AWS Networking including VPC, CSRs, Transit Gateway, etc.
  • Experience with tiered architectures e.g. presentation, application, data
  • Knowledge of ITSM/ITIL/Agile management concepts
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
