Major Purpose:
We are looking for a professional with strong strategic thinking and data analytics experience to join our Data Analytics and Technology team. As a Data Analyst, you will leverage analytic and technical skills to design, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions and capabilities which address business problems and help regulatory staff make better informed decisions.
Essential Job Functions:
Data Analytics and Technology’s (DA&T) mission is to lead the strategic adoption of data analytics & technology solutions and capabilities, thereby amplifying Member Supervision's ability to protect investors, uphold market integrity and manage risk.  The ideal candidate will be actively involved in:
  • Executing analytics projects including non-analytical tasks, such as data sourcing, documentation etc.
  • Recommending, designing and developing data-driven analysis using statistical & advanced analytics methodologies to solve business problems.
  • Leveraging existing data using analytical tools and languages (SQL, R, Python, SAS, or SPSS) to perform data manipulation and analysis
  • Developing process maps for complex business functions and documenting business requirements to support project needs
  • Translating complex business sets and membership data into meaningful dashboards and insights, leveraging tools such as Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Cognos Analytics, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), etc.
  • Presenting prototypes and learnings to stakeholders at all levels across the organization
  • Collaborating closely with developers to provide proofs of concept that can be converted into production-level applications
  • Leveraging experience to ensure consistent data quality
  • Performing research to gain context and meaning of uncultivated data sets
  • Supporting the importance of data processes, data integrity and cleanliness, and the strategic use of data
  • Accessing and compiling large volumes of custom and syndicated data from disparate sources into concise and precise information
Other Responsibilities:
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent/related degree required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Basic business process mapping and requirements gathering/documentation skills
  • Banking or Broker-Dealer product knowledge i.e., capital markets/ core banking offerings
  • 3+ years’ experience writing complex SQL queries working with relational databases
  • Visualization and business analytic tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Cognos Analytics, VBA, etc.
  • 2+ years’ experience leading project teams
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor and collaborator in a fast-paced proof of concept development environment
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Experience working with analysts in a research/modeling environment that leverages tools such as R and/or Python
Working Conditions:
  • Work is normally performed in an office environment, but for the foreseeable future all work will be remote. Use of desktop PC (provided by FINRA) is required.
