Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Duration: Contract-to-Hire, long-term
Location: West Jordan, UT
Pay Range: $32-$40/hr DOE

Job Responsibilities:
Produce and implement creative design solutions for components and assemblies with an emphasis on increasing efficiency, quality, and safety
Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from technicians.
Create 3D models of complex systems or products using Autodesk Inventor
Develop and test prototypes as directed
Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations and various industry standards such as ANSI, sanitary design (food industry), CE.
Troubleshoot design failures and develop quick, cost-effective solutions
Collaborate on projects with other engineers, technicians, and sales teams
Work with suppliers to obtain information and generate specifications for quotes
Maintain accurate parts lists, files, and drawings
Provide technical advice to customers
Analyze and interpret data
Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in mechanical engineering or related field of study and 10 years of related engineering experience is preferred
Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)
Working Knowledge of 2D and 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools. Proficient preferably in AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor (or similar Parametric design software) and MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Experience with file and data-management software (Autodesk Vault or similar)
Solid knowledge of arithmetic and geometry
Ability to work under pressure to analyze and resolve problems
Ability to communicate technical engineering material to both technical and non-technical individuals
Self-starter that works well with others – positive attitude is a must!
Ability to prioritize and organize projects and tasks with minimal supervision in a team environment
Experience designing UHMW and stainless steel components preferred
Creativity and analytical skills
Technical writing skills
3D printing experience a plus
Physical Requirements
Must be able to use computer, mouse, keyboard, and phone for extended periods of time
Must be able to bend, kneel, and reach on a regular basis
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods
Ability to carry/lift/move objects that weigh up to 50 lb.
