Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Duration: Contract-to-Direct, long-term
Salary: $35-45/hr DOE
   
General Description:
Performs routine engineering assignments including calculations, facility layouts, data management and client-specific forms.  This is a mid-level position in the Mechanical Engineering group and reports to a senior or higher level engineer within the discipline.  Relies on general instruction from senior staff members and experience to perform the functions of the job.  Assignments will be completed under the direction of a senior level engineer.  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
 
Duties & Responsibilities: 
Assignments involve some unusual or difficult engineering problems requiring job knowledge and abilities beyond entry level.
Performs mid-level mathematical and engineering calculations and tests.
Assists senior staff members with development of project and construction cost estimates.
Assists design staff with general equipment layouts for processing circuits.
Performs audits of vendor supplied information against engineering specifications and data sheets for specific projects. 
Interfaces directly with equipment vendors during specification, order and fabrication of equipment.
Writes and/or modifies engineering specifications with minimal direct supervision of more experienced engineers. 
Maintains drawing, equipment and line lists.
Incumbent will functioning as an in-house engineer, but duties may also be performed in a plant engineering capacity within a clients’ operating facility or in a field engineering capacity in support of a construction project.
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
Requires a four-year Engineering degree (BS in Mechanical Engineering)
Engineer in Training Certification required.
Two to four years design engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Mechanical Engineering or related functional area.
Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, scheduling and engineering related computer software.
Ability to multitask.
General working knowledge of current design codes and standards in multiple disciplines (i.e. Pressure Vessel Code, Boiler Code, NEC, NFPA, MSHA, OSHA)
CADD literate.
Good oral and written communication skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
Actively engaged in acquiring a P.E. License.
Active membership in a professional Organization (i.e. ASME).
Experience with project economics and estimating.
Willingness to participate in onsite visits which may require overnight travel.
Heavy industrial engineering experience in one or more commercial industries.
